each student's prefered learning styles, help them get a strong basis for
music theory and lead them so they "learn how to learn" on their own. I
teach them how to warm up properly. Correct posture, practicing,
performing techniques and setting attainable goals are the most important
long lasting things I teach my students. Even a 4 measure 5 minute
practice session (on the part of the song that gives you trouble) can do
wonders as it works its way into your muscle memory and is transfered from
the cerebrum (conscious thinking) into your cerebellium (subconscious-motor).
I encourage students to set their own goals and to perform. I help them
develop whatever material they like toward their goals. I feel that some
music should make people want to consider their existence, where they are
going, what they think their life should be. I like to have a good time
when I write and when I play. I want other people to enjoy it, have a good
time and make some memories that will last forever. Most of all when I
play my music and teach my guitar students, I hope people can get a kick
out of it. An IMC interview discussing my
career and information on my CD's can be found at the homepage. References: Available On Request.
