New York, New York : Area TeachersJoshua Newman917-559-2931Click to Email Instructor!Location of Teaching: New York, New York.Instruments Taught: Trumpet.Times Available: Flexible.Rates: Guitar: $80.00 per Hour.Educational Background: Yale UniversityExperience: Please visit the Homepage for experience information.Additional: Trumpet Lessons in Manhattan - New York City is full of
wonderful trumpet players, many of whom are excellent teachers as well.
What sets me apart? Two main advantages: 1. I wasn't a 'natural'. Many
of those wonderful trumpet players here in the city were "born"
trumpeters; they picked up the horn and quickly developed a strong upper
register, unlimited endurance, fast, clean articulation, etc., etc.
Sadly, I didn't. And for years and years, I struggled as a result. I
could hear the Hummel Concerto or a boppin' jazz solo in my ear and heart,
but I simply couldn't get it out of my horn - my chops were holding me
back. Fortunately, through tireless experimentation, I discovered
excercises and ideas that helped me overcome each of my problems, one by
one. Students come to me because they have the same problems - their
range, endurance, sound, articulartion or finger dexterity isn't as strong
as they'd like - and they're looking for real results. I promise I can
help you overcome limitations in each and every one of those areas. I can
help you do it, because I had to do it myself. 2. I know what it means to
make music "part" of your life. While I'm a professional trumpet
player, I'm not a full-time pro. Instead, I spend my days running a movie
production company, and play trumpet professionally throughout New York
City on nights and weekends. As a result, I have to fit into an hour of
practice time what many of my colleagues spread over five or six! So I
don't just focus on solutions to trumpet problems, I focus on
"efficient" solutions. On getting the most results possible in the
least amount of time. I can not only help you overcome your trumpet
limitations, I can help you do it in a way that actually fits into your
busy life, whether you're an overloaded student or an overworked comeback
player. A few other reasons to work with me: - I remember that trumpet
playing should be fun. Too many teachers lose sight of that, forget why
we make music in the first place.
