Education: Graduated from Carnegie Mellon University - Pittsburgh. Studied Classical Piano with Nelson Whitaker. First trained in Classical and Sacred music by her mother, Natheleen Murphy Vaughan. Later broadened musical horizons through private studies with flautist James Walker (Pittsburgh Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and co-founder of the jazz ensemble "Free Flight"). Most recently studied Jazz Piano with the national touring pianist Frank Cunimondo. Earned a Bachelor of Science Double Degree from Carnegie Mellon in Electrical/Computer Engineering and Engineering Public Policy.

Experience: An accomplished pianist and flautist with twenty years of experience. Performs professionally throughout Western Pennsylvania and is the owner/instructor for the Lisa Rae Music Studio. Is frequently called upon to appear with the outstanding Butler Symphony, the popular Latin/Salsa Dance Band (Guaracha), and the Imaginarium, an expressive arts and music program for children. As a soloist, performs regulary for weddings, worship services, and social gatherings.

Additional: Maintains active memberships in the Pittsburgh Piano Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National and Pennsylvania State Associations. For the benefit of students, hold current PA Act 33/34 criminal and child safety clearances. Established in 1995, the Lisa Rae Music Studio has provided comprehensive music lessons to nearly two hundred students from twenty school districts, six private schools, and four universities and colleges. In 1996 the Studio was featured in the publication Successful Women. In 2001, the studio launched its Piano Teachers Plus Network to bring quality instruction to students in their own neighborhoods; at their schools, churches, and community centers. Currently offers private lessons, group programs, and master classes in piano and flute. Students range in ages five to adult. Learning challenged students are welcomed.
