INTRODUCTORY LESSON - Page 2

Listen to this Lesson (requires RealPlayer G2)

  1. The Keyboard is made up of black keys and white keys. When looking at the keyboard, you will notice that the black keys are in groups of 2's and 3's. (see picture)
  2. The grouping of the black keys will help in identifying the white keys on the next page.
  3. When moving to the left on the keyboard, you are moving DOWN to the lower keys. Moving to your right is considered moving UP to the higher keys.
  4. Now you will have a chance to play the groups of 2 black keys. Listen while I use finger numbers 2 and 3 on my left hand to play all of the groups of 2 black keys from the middle of the piano, and moving DOWN to the left.
  5. This time I am using my right hand & finger number 2 & 3. I will start in the middle and play all of the groups of 2 black keys going UP to the higher notes.

  2. Now I will use my right hand with the same 3 fingers and play the groups of 3 black keys moving UP the piano from the middle.
